Golden Jubilee National Hospital
March 2008

The Golden Jubilee National Hospital, Clydebank, is Scotland's flagship hospital for reducing patient waiting times. The planned care hospital, with no accident and emergency unit, receives referrals from across the country. The fact that there are no urgent emergency admissions means that patient procedures are not subject to delay.

As part of its orthapaedic expansion, the hospital - part of the NHS National Waiting Times Centre - has added two more Ultra Clean (UCV) theatres, now having a total of fourteen operating theatres.

Having worked with the hospital previously, Howorth Medical, a division of Howorth Air Technology Ltd, was chosen to provide two of its unique Howorth Exflow Ultra Clean canopies, ensuring the theatres are suitable for orthopaedic surgery and procedures in which post operative infection is an issue. Howorth also provided four theatre panels with PACS viewing systems instead of the usual x-ray viewers; this enables patient records to be called up during the operation.

The main contractor was SCS Building Services Ltd, a subsidiary company of T Clarke PLC (London), one of Scotland's leading providers of Electrical, Mechanical and associated services to the healthcare industry.
