Howorth Medical Completes 3 New Theatres at Newham University Hospital, Heralding the End of Queues for Scheduled Surgery March 2006 Howorth Medical has recently completed work on 3 new operating theatres for the state-of-the-art Gateway Surgical Centre at Newham University Hospital. Howorth Medical equipped 2 of the theatres with its Exflow 90-5, one of the world's most advanced ultra-clean ventilation systems, with a unique graded velocity air profile. Its exponential airflow prevents entrainment of contaminated air and creates a clean zone larger than its diffuser area, giving protection over instrument tables in addition to the immediate surgical area. The third theatre will be used for minor procedures. A full turnkey design and build project by Howorth, the theatres feature the Komfort Prefabricated CX Health Care Walling & Doorset System - pre-serviced demountable steel wall panels which combine durability with low maintenance. This modular pre-finished system facilitates speed of installation, easy panel replacement and future room re-configuration. Howorth Medical also provided 2 packaged plantrooms to serve the new theatres. Built and fitted out with all plant off-site, the plantroom modules are craned into position ready to use. This is quicker and less intrusive than conventional building on site. The Gateway Surgical Centre is a completely stand-alone unit and will mean patients in north east London can look forward to scheduled effective surgery with no cancellations due to emergency demand.
	The Centre was officially opened by Secretary of State, Patricia Hewitt MP, on Tuesday 14th November 2005.
