Another Howorth Exflow at Calderdale Royal Hospital
November 2007
Calderdale Royal Hospital, Halifax, is in the process of a major reorganization, which has already seen the majority of planned surgery move to Calderdale, and emergency and complex surgery move to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary. The hospitals, together with St Luke's in Huddersfield, are operated by the Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust. |

In order to prepare for the increase in planned surgery, Calderdale Royal Hospital has upgraded a further theatre to Ultra Clean, with the installation of an integral Howorth Exflow 32 system. This is in addition to the two existing Howorth Exflow remote systems already in use at the hospital.
The Howorth Exflow 32 is the larger of the Exflow canopies, providing an Ultra Clean operating zone of 3.2mx3.2m. This means that the entire operating team, and all instrument tables, can be accommodated beneath the canopy. Despite its increased size, the system achieves a noise level approaching 50 dBA, which is up to 5 dBA below the level set by the HTM 2025.
