Battling the snow and ice to return to Sheffield

4 May 2010

Howorth Air Technology recently completed its second theatre at Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, and the Trust has been delighted with every step of the project.  The work involved the full refurbishment of the theatre, and was finished on schedule and in only 11 weeks, despite the majority of the work taking place during the terrible December and January weather, which made access to the site difficult and slow.

Due to performance issues with one of its existing laminar flow operating theatre UCV canopies, the Trust decided it was time to replace the 15 year old unit with a new compatible UCV canopy. The Trust already has a Howorth Exflow UCV canopy in one of its newer operating theatres which has proved to be extremely reliable, and felt it was appropriate to invest in a new unit with a proven track record.  The canopy replacement was a major element of the refurbishment.

The Howorth team carried out all the necessary pre-installation survey work and produced a full project plan showing timings for each element of the works to fit in with the Trust’s own very tight timescale window.

“The whole project went extremely well.  Both the Howorth project manager and the installation team and sub-contractors provided a excellent service and kept rigidly within the agreed timescale of the project, and the operating theatre was handed back to us on the agreed date.  The finished product is excellent and I would have no reservations in recommending both their product and service to others.”

The job at Sheffield was particularly important for Howorth, as it was the first project started and completed under the company’s new owners and management team.  Its success clearly demonstrates the skill, attention to details and focus on customer satisfaction that the revitalized company values so highly.
