Electrical Controls & Instrumentation Design Engineer

Department: Pharma Operations Reports to: EC&I Departmental Manager

We are delighted that due to our continued growth, we have a vacancy for EC&I Departmental Manager within our Pharma Team.

The successful candidates will be responsible for designing and developing the Pharma and Bio product range.

Working Location: Head Office, Bolton | Full-time

Key Responsibilities

As part of your role at Howorth, your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide design and technical input into tenders/estimates
  • Provide technical support 
  • Meet key design milestones for project delivery and tender preparation
  • Deliver a design to cost and time constraints
  • Standardisation of design – developing a modular framework for the entire product range
  • Play a key role in value engineering
  • Be proactive in EC&I product development taking ideas to the EC&I Design Manager for 
    evaluation and approval
  • Review and streamline processes
  • Writing FDS, P&ID’s, and input into FAT & SAT protocols

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

  • Have a minimum educational OND in Electrical Engineering
  • Have a proven track record in EC & I product and process design
  • Knowledge of Pharmaceutical processes and containment requirements
  • To be fully conversant with the latest engineering design concepts, engineering standards and disciplines, including hazardous area compliance (ATEX and UL Directives)
  • Knowledge of the Company products and their subsequent design requirements.
  • Understand Health and Safety legislation related to design, incorporating risk assessments.
  • Fully experienced/trained in Auto-CAD for the production of electrical schematics and process drawings or similar packages.
